Also for fun, I like this site:

http://www.caloriesperhour.com

because it does math for me. It gives me an idea of how much energy I'm expending throughout the day, adds it all up, and gives me a good idea of my input vs. output.

Also, it has "ultimate frisbee" as an activity that burns, for my 155-lb. self, 562 calories per hour. Which seems about right, if I play for an hour without taking a sub. That sounds really fun actually. Are there any savage tournaments coming up?

Don't worry, I'm not one of those crazy overobsessed people who freaks out about calorie counting. I just occasionally get curious, so I'll keep track for a few days. It's pretty eye-opening. By no means would I ever not eat enough food to support my workouts.

Also, just for fun, I'm going to try tricking my body into thinking food is scarce. 5 minutes ago, I was feeling hungry, so I just drank a big glass of sugar water. Maybe I'll start bringing some olive oil to work and see if I can deal with it, I'm pretty sure that will work better than sugar. Tack on 15 calories to my daily total.

Lori,

Some simple tips to try, Eat what you want, but cut out all but one sugary snack a day. You won't miss it and your body will build muscle that much quicker. This means make the choice between the sweetener in the coffee, or the donut, or chocolate. If you want to be really good cut out all the sugar, but to be real, cut out most of the sugar until you get to your idea fitness level.

To help this happen faster, Make sure you don't consume carb. calories after your workout for at least an hour, you can have protein or water, it will keep the fat burning even after you are done working out. As soon as you give your body the carbs, the fat burning slows dramatically.

I am not crazy about calorie websites. When I am curious about the nutritional content of food, I use a nutrition scale that helps me visualize my portions for future reference. I don't use it for every food but the one I am unsure of. I have the EatSmart Scale that calculate 100calorie snacks real fast so I think I paid for the scale already
